No Religion !

Christ not men

A very common argument against Christianity is, "The church is full of hypocrites and is responsible for many of the atrocities committed in history." Without any doubt, many atrocities have been committed under the banner of Christianity. However, Christianity had very little to do with it. Man has always had a bent towards evil. God says it is part of our fallen nature. "For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world." (1Jn 2:16)

Human beings will always fail you, but real Christianity is a personal relationship with Christ who will never fail, "...because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Heb. 13:5) Your faith must be in Christ, not men.

Why not religion?
Man was created to be religious, but not for religion. Typically, religion is man's attempt to control or regulate other people for their own ends through traditions, rules or works that God never intended for them. This has historically resulted in the kind of atrocities Christianity has come under attack for. Many people are lured into a false sense of salvation by virtue of their works or membership in a church. "They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." (Mk.7:7-8)

What then?
As I said before, true Christianity is a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe through His Son, Jesus Christ! Salvation does not come from a church, or through any good works you may think you need to perform. It can't be bestowed upon you by some man and you can't earn it, because then God would owe it to you, and He doesn't owe you anything! "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." (Eph. 2:8-9) Understand your situation, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Rom.3:23) "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." (Rom. 6:23) "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (Jn. 3:16)

So what do you say? Are you ready? Simply pray something similar to this: "Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be." If this prayer expresses the true desire of your heart, then you are now a true Christian and you have received the gift of eternal life. You can know it because God says it. "That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Rom.10:9) "The witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These thing I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may KNOW that you have eternal life." (1Jn. 5:11-13)

Going to church and fellowshipping with other believers is an important part of the Christian walk. So is studying God's word, the Bible. By studying God's word you will grow in faith an knowledge of God and learn His desire for your life. Below, I have linked some resources to aid you in your journey. God bless you!
